Lots happened behind the scenes between seasons and early on in the seventh year of the hit comedy, leaving audiences speculating that this might be the last. Perry became seriously ill again, and returned looking more emaciated than ever. Cox regained weight, but despite finishing Scream 3 happily, things were already rocky with David Arquette. Much was made in the press about Aniston marrying Brad Pitt, of course, but the real news (allaying fans' fears) was NBC's expensive renewal of the cast for two years at $750,000 per episode each (more than six times their previous increase). On-screen, at least there was Chandler and Monica's engagement lasting the whole year, despite predictable ups and downs (eg: "T.O.W. The Truth About London" revealing that Monica fancied Joey). By the time we finally get to "T.O.W. Chandler's Dad" (Kathleen Turner), it seems inevitable that the two-part finale will be an insane mess--but with a happy-ish ending. Sure enough, "T.O.W. Chandler and Monica's Wedding" features Gary Oldman joining in the chaos as Chandler repeatedly goes missing. Other star-turns in the year were Seinfeld's Jason Alexander as a suicidal Office Manager, Susan Sarandon as soap queen bitch Jessica Lockhart, Denise Richards as one of Ross and Monica's endless number of cousins and Winona Ryder as a surprise old friend, prompting "T.O.W. Rachel's Big Kiss". But perhaps the most telling instalment of this weirdly atmospheric year was "T.O.W. They All Turn Thirty". It suggested that maybe the Friends are all getting too old to carry on living their frivolous lives the same way after all. Paul TonksCustomer reviews: Another Great Volume of Friends - Amazing Stuff, 2004-08-04 "Friends" is a worldwide super hit. Nobody can deny the cultural phenomenon the programme has become in it's ten years on the TV screens of millions of fans the world over. This particular DVD contains four great episodes from one of the show's best seasons, it's seventh. In addition to four great and reliably hillarious episodes, you get bonus scenes that were deleted from the broadcasted versions and that can only be found on the DVD. These are great and if you have already seen the episodes here, add a new aspect to them for you to enjoy.
My personal favourite episode here is "The One Where They All Turn Thirty". When the show began, the cast were all twenty-somethings. This episode marks thier move toward the big 3-0. Thier reactions to such a momentous occasions are predictably hillarious - purchasing sport cars and getting outrageously hammered are how some of the Friends try and cope with thier rapidly dissapearing youth. Other highlights here include a suphurb guest appearance from Susan Sarrandon on "The One With Joey's New Brain" in which Joey's role on corny soap Days of our Lives takes a ridiculous turn. Overall, this is a fab collection. If you can't afford the pricey boxsets, and you just want a few episodes from the later seasons to enjoy than this DVD is as good as any. The already mentioned "Where They Turn Thirty" episode is simply not to be missed. Truly hillarious. 'Friends for life', 2002-01-10 I am a huge fan of friends. I have read some other reviews on friends and i am sorry, but they are still going strong. This dvd features 'the one where they all turn thirty' Rachel turns thirty and everyone begins reminising about when they did. Hilarious plotlines.
The funniest one is the one with the truth about london - Monica and Chandler lets Joey perform their wedding - and you know theres going to be some hiccups - or it wouldn't be friends. But everything turns out fine in the end, as it always does, and that is what is brilliant about friends - it is real to life and you never stop laughing. An absolute must-buy for all friends fans - and if you've never seen it before, this is a great one to begin loving them. Customers who bought this item also bought:
