Customer reviews: Boring...., 2008-12-30 Since I bought this book I've barely been able to finish it. The style of writing is incredibly boring to follow and I only ever manage to read a couple of pages before closing the book and moving on to something else. The stories lack scandal and read like a short biography of the stars lives with a few snippets of potential scandal every few pages. For a more interesting read try the Sex Lives of the Hollywood Goddesses books.
A marvellous aid for insomniacs, 2008-10-24 What a disappointment this was. Scandal! Death! Hollywood! It should have been a sensationalist page turner from start to finish, how on earth could this not be a rip roaring read?!
Imagine my surprise when I began reading this and found it was far from rip roaring, rather it was dull and boring. It takes considerable skill to take source material like this and make it a somnolent aid, but the authors managed it.
If you are looking for Hollywood lore and some great stories try a biography of Tallulah Bankhead, Louise Brooks, Charlie Chaplin or Don Simpson instead. Much more fun, chock full of scandal and it's quite impossible to fall asleep reading them.
