Customer reviews: Good childs (and adults) typing tutor, 2007-01-19 I bought this in the hope of getting my daughters to learn to type as they learn to use a computer. It's a nice entertaining package which we've found runs without problem under XP as long as it's run with administrator rights (I use 'run as' from the right click pop-up when starting as my daughter accounts don't have administrator rights!) It involves the obvious repetition of exercises needed to learn to type but these are presented as games and are fun. My one gripe would be that my five year old is too slow to make progress through the levels as so find it frustrating. It's a pity the software doresn't test 'normal' typing speed initially to set the times for exercises - surely at this age the aim is to get her typing accurately, even if slowly - the speed will build as she uses keyboards more! My elder daughter - seven - didn't have this problem, so putting the learning on hold for a year or so will probably make a difference.
great typing tutor, 2006-02-20 I have been using the 95 version of this since 1998 and have found it to be a deceptivly good typing tutor. It runs fine under Xp, the only set up problem I have found is that you have to disable any voice modems running under system in order for it to run. After that see compatability mode if you have a problem. It builds on typing skills by adding 4 letters at a time, is better than typing of the dead in that it includes capitals and puntuations. Good posters, all 4 of my children love it and still play on it now they are teanagers. A great buy.
