Customer reviews: Hot Hot Heat, 2008-06-04 A gang war is brewing in Miami and where there is crime there is crime scene investigation. Horatio and his team have a more personal interest in the gang warfare when one of their own is targeted. It turns out that the gun came from an unusual place and that the suspects could be better connected than most. With the city chiefs on his case Horatio must work his team fast, but efficiently, to try and catch some killers before all hell breaks lose.
I was not expecting much from a tie in of `CSI Miami' as I am not a huge fan of the show. Therefore, I was impressed how well the show adapted to novel form. The characters in my opinion actually work better on paper as there is no smug actor to get in the way. Horatio seems driven and intelligent, rather than a little constipated like on the TV. Only pathologist Alexx still grates. It helps that Collins has managed to write an enjoyable story that zips along at a decent pace always giving you action when you need it. Any misgivings I have are over the simplicity of the case as I was able to solve it by half way. Despite this I did enjoy the journey that the CSI team took getting to the same conclusion as myself, one scene set in the University pool is particularly good. This book does not contain enough meat for none fans of the show, but for people who watch any strain of `CSI' there is enough here to make it enjoyable.
Intense, 2004-08-23 The book is just like the tv series. Very intense, you get wrapped up in the story. Lots of twists and turns, and the ending is up expected. Not giving much away, cause it is good to see if you can work out the clues, like a real CSI investigator!!
